OpenGames #1: Roadmap

OpenGames is a digitalized casino platform with a focus on decentralization.

Currently, websites like Roobet.com and Stake.com have captured the available digital cryptocurrency casino market but they are missing out on the essence of the blockchain, decentralization.

The gap that OpenGames is attempting to fill is providing a layer of security/trustlessness that is available through the blockchain.

My initial focus with Blackjack is to develop a simple but popular game that can prove the hypothesis that digital casinos lack decentralization and openness.

Stage 0: GameRoomV1

A couple of months ago the first draft of OpenGames was complete. This is it:

It had basic functionality and a sketchy home page. Users could deposit cryptocurrency, and play Blackjack which was completely written in JavaScript. The intention behind this first MVP was to create a transparent casino experience.

This initial site was not decentralized but the code was public and published online which was intended to challenge the status quo of casinos. The status quo is what I like to call The Black Box Casino.

Only a select few games on Roobet.com share their probability algorithm but they never open themselves up completely.

Stage 1: GameRoomV2

This is where we are at now. With actual branding, a homepage, and a usable interface, the site is almost up for launch!

In its current state, OpenGames is not yet decentralized, but it is still an openly published JavaScript platform. It allows users to deposit cryptocurrency and allows the development team to get a better read of user needs as OpenGames continues to develop.

Stage 2: Decentralization

The main value proposition of using OpenGames is that it provides the most transparent/trustless way of gambling with cryptocurrency. At this stage, OpenGames would make Blackjack completely decentralized (running on the blockchain).

Proving that decentralized casinos are available and users don’t need to compromise for Black Box Casinos, OpenGames will essentially prove the value of decentralized casinos.

Stage 3: Staking

One of the main bottlenecks of casinos is having enough liquidity or capital available to allow for larger max bet sizes.

Without the ability to fund an entire casino pool, OpenGames will require the support of external investors. With the ability for users to stake their cryptocurrency within the OpenGames platform to earn staking rewards, the pool will grow and allow for users to bet more through the growth of external funding.

Stage 4: Growing Games -> Growing Platform

While OpenGames proves the value of decentralization within the context of casinos, OpenGames will be working on growing the arsenal of available games for users to play.

You shouldn’t have to settle for decentralization, it should be the obvious choice.
